Made in the Midlands are delighted to announce that our latest Breakfast event at SMB Pressings, Cannock has broken all previous attendance records of our morning networking events.

SMB Pressings attracted a remarkable 71 representatives from the local manufacturing and engineering sector. Regardless of the Brexit result, it remains clear that Midlands manufacturers are still driven towards strengthening their business by meeting like-minded representatives of their sector.

SMB Pressings provide customers with a service second to none in quality of production, competitive pricing, deliveries to agreed schedules and research and development facilities, to bring ideas through to manufacturing status using our in-house tool making experience. The company produces a wide range of pressed components in ferrous and nonferrous materials and have a press capacity that ranges from 10 to 75 tonnes.

Their record-breaking event received high praise on social media as Laura Jones, Marketing and Business Development Strategist of MIM Patrons FBC Manby Bowdler’s tweeted: “Fantastic morning @SMBPRESSINGS Even got a tour of the @madeinthemids HQ en route back to the office!”

Additionally, General Manager of Subcon Laser, Tom Mongan tweeted: "Super event, it was fascinating to see the work @SMBPRESSINGS produce. The orchestral drums & chimes were awesome."

SMB Pressings Managing Director, Alec Proctor was delighted with the record-breaking turnout, as he stated: “We are very happy with the amount of attendees, we capped it at 50-55 people thinking we wouldn’t get that many. We planned for that, but it was fantastic the number of attendees and they were great people to come and show around and welcome to SMB Pressings.”

However, quantity is not the definition of a successful Breakfast networking event, as we aim to facilitate the visit of the decision-makers, directors and influencers of local manufacturing and engineering companies to our member companies. Proctor explained: “It was very well represented by Made in the Midlands members. It is apparent again that everybody who is a member, who attends these events wants to try and work together and look for opportunities to work together. They are all passionate about Midlands manufacturing and UK manufacturing.”

All of our Breakfast events for the calendar year have sold out and we recently added five new events to our website here: Events. Proctor offered valuable advice to any member considering hosting a Breakfast event, as he urged: “Don’t hesitate and promote your business and talk to people who are MIM members. If you are not members, think about joining because as a team you are always stronger. Enjoy the event and expect a high turnout.

“When we get together at these events, you will be meeting a lot of like minded people who have similar issues, opportunities, problems and experiences to share. Please come along with an open mind towards people and you’ll be surprised at what you may find.”
